Good evening Alpha Delta Gamma brothers,
I hope you and your families are all doing well. Tonight, I had an opportunity to call Father Pillar. It was great to hear from him. Although Father is slowly losing his vision (due to macular degeneration I believe), he remains as witty and upbeat as ever. He listens to books on tape and enjoys works from W.E. B. Griffin.
Father will be 82 years old in a few days. I know he would be glad to hear from his old Alpha Delts so if you can please give him a call (651) 578-6532 or a card at 8133 Fourth Streent North, Apt B202, Oakdale, MN 55128.
I gave Father an update of my latest ADG meeting with an active chapter. Mike Blackstock, a great Epsilon Alumnus , and former ADG National President is currently the President of ADG Educational Fund (ADGEF). He surprised me when he said an ADG chapter, Alpha Epsilon, is about 70 miles from my home in West Georgia. Mike asked me to give a presentation on leadership based on my 20 years with Uncle Sam’s Army. I met the chapter last week. They have about 25 actives and several members are also on the college’s baseball team. Real jocks. I had a real interactive session, and truthfully said I first learned leadership not in the ROTC classrooms, but with Epsilon Chapter. They obliged my request, and we finished with a very meaningful recitation of our Fraternity Prayer. Of course, I told them about Father Pillar’s authorship of the Prayer and his leadership and impact on our lives.
If any of you are in metro Atlanta, please give me a call or email. I am planning to attend Loyola’s Alumni Weekend in May and hope to see some Alpha Delts.
I probably have an old list of ADG addresses so please feel free to forward to any brothers.
Best wishes to all of you.
Fraternally,
Ely Elefante
